Moving doesn't have to be a scary process. Whether you're moving one piece of furniture or an entire house, follow these simple tips to prepare for an easy move. Moving Crew will do the rest!
MAKE A LIST
Before you pack the first box, get organized by making a list of everything you'll need to do before moving day. This includes a moving timeline so you don't forget to take care of something important.

8 Weeks Before:

Contact Moving Crew to schedule your move.

Inventory the items you plan on taking with you.

Decide what goes in the truck and what items you will personally move like jewelry, electronics, and plants.
6 Weeks Before:

Clean out closets.

Have a yard sale.
-
Start packing seasonal items like clothes and holiday decorations.

Make a list for address changes
4 Weeks Before:

Moving Crew will contact you to confirm, and to schedule our packing sessions, if applicable.

Start packing!

Complete a Change of Address form with the post office.

Send change of address forms to magazines.

Notify family, friends, your bank, your insurance agent, and other business associates of your new address.

Gather important personal documents such as birth certificates and passports.
3 Weeks Before:

Arrange for utilities to be disconnected or transferred.

Get utilities set up in your new residence; don't forget your internet provider!

Start packing room by room.
-
Arrange child and pet care for moving day.

Reserve the freight elevator for moving day, if necessary.
2 Weeks Before:

Dispose properly of items you're not allowed to move such as propane and gasoline.

Hire a plumber/electrician to disconnect appliances you're taking with you.
1 Week Before:

Disconnect appliances you are taking.

Drain gas and oil from power equipment you are taking.

Finish packing

Pack a bag for the first night.

Ensure everything is on the truck.

PROTECT YOUR MOVE
Moving is a big deal. Do your due diligence before choosing a moving company. Confirm they are properly licensed and insured. A great resource is the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Association (FMCSA).

UH. OH. SOMETHING WENT WRONG
Nobody is perfect. Things get broken once in a while. Moving Crew will do our best to rectify the situation by repairing, replacing, or reimbursing for your damaged household goods.

If we are unable come to an agreement, you have the opportunity to file a loss and damage claim through our dispute settlement program or other legal remedies. We will provide you with our dispute settlement company's contact information when requested.
